About Me

Timothy Winter playing cello

A dedicated cellist for over 17 years, Timothy Winter brings a unique combination of artistic skill and technical precision to his music. He began his studies with Bill Grubb at Butler University and worked with contemporary music specialist Craig Hultgren. Now based in Los Angeles, he is currently mentored by the renowned Steve Erdody.

Timothy is a versatile performer with a growing list of high-profile credits. In addition to his extensive experience playing weddings and ballet productions, he has established himself as a skilled on-camera musician. His recent work includes filming as a character double for an upcoming Netflix production and performing as a featured musician in a music video for the artist Aurora Ardent. He also recently performed on the legendary Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. as part of the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive.

He performs on a 1979 Mario Gadda cello of the Stefano Scarampella model, made in Mantua, Italy—an instrument prized for its rich, powerful, and lyrical tone.

Outside of music, Timothy is a propulsion engineer at SpaceX, where he works on the Raptor engine. He applies the same focus and discipline required for rocket engineering to his cello playing, delivering performances that are both reliable and expressive. When he is not at SpaceX, his time is devoted to his lifelong passion for music and the arts.
